PRINCEVILLE, Kaua'i – The University of Hawai'i men's golf team finished in 17
th place following the final round of the Warrior Princeville Makai Invitational Tuesday at the Makai Club in Princeville, Kaua'i.
UH's top finisher in the fifth annual event was senior
Skye Inakoshi, who tied for 52
nd at 6-over 222 after a 76 on Tuesday.
Mississippi went wire-to-wire for the team title, cruising to a 22-stroke win with a 33-under 831 total. Sam Houston State was runner-up at 853. Individually, Braden Thornberry captured medalist honors at 13-under 203 after a final round 67. SHSU's Andrew Ertel and East Tennessee State's Mateusz Gradecki shared runner-up at 10-under 206.
Also competing for the host Rainbow Warriors was sophomore
Cameron Kaneko, who shot even par 72 for a 224 finish and tie for 63
rd. Fellow sophomore Samuel Schwartz tied for 78
th at 230 while Kaua'i native
Pono Tokioka posted his second straight 74 for a 231 total and tie for 84
th. Freshman
Desmond Mello fired a final round 82 for a 242 total and 107
th place.
