PALM DESERT, Calif. – The University of Hawai'i women's golf team finished in fourth place while senior
Izzy Leung tied for second at the Wyoming Cowgirl Desert Intercollegiate following Sunday's final round at The Classic Club.
The Rainbow Wahine shot a final round 299 for an 892 total, 10 strokes behind team champion Santa Clara (882), who won by five strokes over runner-up Cal Poly (887). Individually, Santa Clara's Annie Freman took medalist honors and was the only golfer to finish the tournament under par at 6-under 210.
Leung shot a final round 72, spurred by three birdies over her final five holes, for even par 216 total and a tie with Southern Utah's Kamonwan Prasurtwong. Leung won a scorecard tiebreaker for runner-up, her 10
th career Top 10 finish.
UH senior
Daezsa Tomas recorded her third career Top 10 and best three-round total of 6-over 222 to finish in a four-way tie for 10
th place. Senior
Raquel Ek tied for 15
th with an 8-over 224 total after a final round 76.
Junior
Kelli-Anne Katsuda posted her best round of the tournament with a final round 77 for a 237 total and tie for 40
th while sophomore
Kaci Masuda finished one stroke back at 238 and tie for 42
nd place.
Hawai'i will next co-host the Pac-12 Preview at Nanea, Oct. 24-25 before wrapping up the fall season with the Rainbow Wahine Invitational, Nov. 1-3 at Leilehua Golf Course in Schofield Barracks, O'ahu.
