HONOLULU – In front of the largest turnstile crowd of the season, Quincy Smith scored a career-high 18 points, Stefan Jankovic added 22 points and eight rebounds and the University of Hawai'i men's basketball team's historic season continued with a 78-62 win over UC Davis on Saturday night at the Stan Sheriff Center.

The 'Bows improved to a perfect 5-0 in the Big West Conference and sit atop the league with UC Irvine (5-0). The 16-2 overall mark is also the best record through 18 games since 1972, UH's first of four appearances in the NCAA Tournament.

Isaac Fleming added 13 points and Roderick Bobbitt stuffed the stat sheet with nine points, seven assists and four steals to help turn back the Aggies (7-11, 2-3 BWC) who entered the season as the defending Big West regular season champions. Smith delivered an all-around solid game for the Rainbow Warriors, adding three assists, four steals and a hit a season-high two three pointers.

Josh Fox scored a game-high 25 points for UC Davis with Brynton Lemar adding 12 points.

The 'Bows trailed early but scored seven straight points to jump ahead 7-4. Jankovic was on a tear in the early going, hitting on his first four looks, two from downtown.

The 'Bows would extend the advantage to 10 points after back to-back buckets from Jankovic and Mike Thomas but those would be the final points of the half for the 'Bows. Siler Schneider's jumper sparked an 8-0 run over the final 3:05 of the minutes of the half and UH had to settle for just a 37-35 lead at halftime.

The Aggies would tie it up early in the second half but Sai Tummala nailed a three pointer to ignite an 8-0 UH run with a three pointer. Fleming followed that up with a three of his own and a dazzling up and under layup and the 'Bows got the lead back up to double digits.

The 'Bows continued to maintain a 10-point lead as Smith hit his second three. Smith later added a layup on a nifty dish in the paint from Fleming and UH had extended to a 12-point lead.

UH will have a full week off before hosting Long Beach State on Saturday, Jan. 30 at the Stan Sheriff Center.
