Full ResultsHONOLULU – The University of Hawai'i men's and women's swimming team hosted a dual meet against Minnesota on Saturday afternoon at the Duke Kahanamoku Aquatics Complex. The Rainbow Wahinefell to the Gophers, 157-79, while the Rainbow Warriors fell 146-82.
The Rainbow Wahine were led by
Cherelle Oestringer, who won the 1650 freestyle in a time of 16:50.61 and took third in the 500 freestyle (5:03.60). Meanwhile,
Yuri Samouilich led the 'Bows with a first place finish in the 200 freestyle (1:39.36) and took silver in the 100 free (44.98), while
Jonas Gutzat won the 500 freestyle (4:33.58).
Other top finishers for the Rainbow Wahine included
Tahna Lindquist, who took silver in the 200 back (2:03.80) and
Franziska Weidner and Hailey Chasin, who took bronze in the 200 free (1:51.95) and 200 fly (2:16.79), respectively.
For the Rainbow Warriors, freshman
Micah Ornelas finished second in the 200 back (1:53.69), while senior
Kacy Johnson led the 'Bows in the 200 fly after landing in third (1:53.42).
UH will continue its two-week home-stand, Jan. 12 as they host Fairfield at the Duke Kahanamoku Aquatics Complex. It will be the 'Bows' final meet before heading to the MPSF Championships next month.
