Tournament ScheduleHONOLULU – After enjoying its lone weekend away from collegiate competition, the University of Hawai'i women's sand volleyball team returns to action at the USAV Beach Collegiate Challenge held April 11-12 in Hermosa Beach, Calif.
The tournament includes No. 1 Southern California, No. 2 Hawai'i, No. 4 Pepperdine and No. 6 Long Beach State. Joining them will be teams from Boise State, Concordia Irvine, Grand Canyon, Loyola Marymount, Santa Clara and San Francisco.
On Saturday, each college team will play two dual matches against other college teams. Sunday will be devoted to matches in the gold, silver and bronze, single-elimination brackets between individual sand duos. The action will begin at 9 a.m. each day with the final matches starting at 3:30 p.m. each day.
The 'Bows (10-1) look to be in fine form after blanking CSU Bakersfield, San Francisco, and Santa Clara en route to winning last week's Santa Cruz Collegiate Challenge. The following day, a Rainbow Wahine duo won each of the pairs competitions which included a gold bracket final pitting UH's No. 1 of
Brittany Tiegs and
Nikki Taylor vs. the two pairing of
Katie Spieler and
Olivia Urban.
Spieler and Urban boast a team-best 19-5 pairs record with Taylor and Tiegs at 18-5 and Hawai'i's No. 3 tandem of
Sammie Brown and
Hannah Rooks holding a 16-6 mark.
