SANTA CRUZ, Calif. – The University of Hawai'i Rainbow Wahine sand volleyball team was in top form on Saturday, sweeping through the competition to win the dual portion of the Santa Cruz Collegiate Challenge. The 'Bows blanked CSU Bakersfield and San Francisco in pool play, then cruised past Santa Clara in the title match.
UH topped Bakersfield to open the day, winning in straight sets in all but the one flight. USF failed to take a set off the 'Bows in the final pool play match then, with all the momentum on their side, they handily defeated the Broncos for the championship.
The tournament continues on Sunday with the pairs competition. Matches begin at 9:00 a.m. PT (6:00 a.m. HT).
