Round 3 ResultsARROYO GRANDE, Calif. – The University of Hawai'i men's golf team concluded the Cal Poly Match Play Championships, with a 4-1 loss to Utah State, Tuesday at the Cypress Ridge Golf Course.
The Rainbow Warriors lost all three matches at the tournament, which was hosted by Cal Poly and featured fellow Big West foes UC Irvine and UC Santa Barbara. UH wrapped up the tourney by falling to USU with its lone victory at No. 3, where junior
Justin Chu defeated McCoy Willey, 1-up.
In the other matches, junior
Scotty Yamashita lost to Grahm Schmaltz 4 and 3 at No. 1; senior
Ryan Kuroiwa fell to Seokwon Jeon, 6 and 5 at No. 2; senior
Brian Lee dropped his match to Reed Platke, 1-up at No. 5; and freshman
Adrian Lee lost to Eli Rogers, 2-up.
UC Irvine captured the championship with a 4-1 victory over Cal Poly. UCSB defeated Cal State Bakersfield, 4-1 for third place while Weber State won 3.5-1.5 over Cal Poly's "B" team for the consolation championship.
The Rainbow Warriors will next compete in the Western Intercollegiate, April 11-12, in Santa Cruz, Calif., their final preparation for the Big West Championships at the end of April.
