KANE'OHE, O'ahu – The University of Hawai'i women's golf team finished in eighth place after Wednesday's third and final round of the 30
th Dr. Donnis Thompson Invitational, held at the Kane'ohe Klipper Golf Course.
The Rainbow Wahine (303-302-308) shot a final round 308 for a 913 total. No. 14 Oklahoma State (862) ran away with the title, winning its fourth Thompson Invitational and first since 2008 – by eight strokes over runner-up No. 15 Texas A&M (870).
UH's
Izzy Leung shot 78 in her final round to place 12
th, her fourth Top 20 of the season and eighth of her career. Leung finished the tourney at 3-over 219, six strokes behind individual champion Marijosse Navarro of Texas A&M, who shot a final round 73 for a 3-under 213 total.
OSU's Emma Broze, Kenzie Neisen, and Linnea Johansson all finished at 2-under 214.
UH sophomore
Raquel Ek posted the team's low score of 3-over 75 to finish tied for 17
th at 9-over 225 (73-77-75) for the tourney. Freshman
Marie Donnici tied for 49
th at 236 (80-77-79) while sophomores
Brianna Becker (78-79-82) and
Kelli-Anne Katsuda (80-83-76) each tied for 55
th at 239.
Three Rainbow Wahine competed as individuals – junior
Nichole Cruz (81-78-78=237/t51st), freshman
Lauren Kirkwood (81-79-85=245/t69th), and sophomore
Daezsa Tomas (81-84-82=247/t72nd).
The Rainbow Wahine will next host Texas in a dual match at Kapalua's Bay Course on Maui, March 21 and the Anuenue Spring Break Classic, March 23-25.
