Game Notes

HONOLULU – The University of Hawai'i men's basketball team heads to California for the 2015 Big West Tournament, Mar. 12-15, at the Honda Center. The No. 5 seed Rainbow Warriors will open the tournament versus No. 4 seed Long Beach State in a quarterfinal matchup on Thursday, Mar. 12 at 2:30 p.m. PT (11:30 a.m. HT).

The 'Bows enter the tournament after a 21-point blowout at Cal State Fullerton for their 20th win of the season, making it back-to-back 20-win seasons for the first time since 1998. UH finished fifth in the Big West standings with an 8-8 mark and are the league's top offensive team averaging 73.4 ppg. They now seek their first conference tournament title in 13 years and the subsequent NCAA Tournament bid that goes with it.

Roderick Bobbitt continues to be the backbone for Hawai'i on both ends of the court. He is the Big West's assist leader at 5.38 apg and his 3.97 steals per game ranks him third in the nation.

UH and Long Beach State will meet for the third time this year and split the regular-season series with each team winning decisively on its home court. The 49ers held the 'Bows to their lowest scoring output in winning 65-50 in Long Beach, but UH got payback three weeks later with a 19-point victory at the Stan Sheriff Center.

This will be the third Big West Tournament appearance for the 'Bows. As a No. 4 seed last year, UH dropped a heart-wrenching 87-84 overtime decision to CSUN in the quarterfinal round.
