Final ResultsWAIKOLOA, Hawai'i – The University of Hawai'i men's golf team finished in 16
th place at the Amer Ari Invitational which concluded Saturday with the third and final round at the Waikoloa Kings' Course.
The Rainbow Warriors shot a final round 293 for a 879 total (294-292-293). No. 25 Arizona State jumped three spots to capture the team title by two strokes over No. 19 Washington. The Sun Devils finished the tourney at 826 with a final round 271. Oregon shot 272 on Saturday to move in a tie for third with USC at 829.
Individually, UW's Cheng-Tsung Pan, the nation's top-ranked golfer, held on to take medalist honors at 17-under 199. Stanford's Maverick McNealy moved into second place with a final round 65 at 15-under 201.
Junior
Scotty Yamashita was UH's top finisher at 1-under 215. The Honolulu, O'ahu native shot a final round 4-under 68 – one of the day's top scores – to move up 18 spots into a tie for 53
rd. Yamashita posted seven birdies on his round.
Senior
Brian Lee tied for 76
th with a final round 76 for a 220 total (73-71-76). Sophomore
Pono Tokioka and senior
Ryan Kuroiwa also shot 76 on Saturday. Tokioka tied for 91
st at 226 (69-81-76) while Kuroiwa tied for 100
th at 230 (76-78-76). Junior
Justin Chu posted his second consecutive solid round with a 1-over 73 to finish in a tie for 93
rd at 227 (82-72-73).
The Rainbow Warriors will next host the John Burns Intercollegiate, Feb. 18-20, at the Wailua Golf Course in Lihu'e, Kaua'i.
