Game NotesHONOLULU – The University of Hawai'i men's basketball team closes its longest road trip of the season this week, facing Cal Poly on Thursday, Feb. 5 (7:00 p.m. PT, 5:00 p.m. HT) and UC Santa Barbara on Saturday, Feb. 7 (7:00 p.m. PT, 5:00 p.m. HT) in a nationally televised game on ESPNU.
UH split the first two games of the Big West trip, beating CSUN last Thursday to sweep their season series before falling to then-first place Long Beach State. The 'Bows jumped out to a 12-0 lead on the 49ers but were outdone on the night in a 15-point loss.
At 3-4 in the conference, Hawai'i is tied with UC Riverside and UCSB for fourth place. All three teams trail UC Davis, UC Irvine, and Long Beach State who sit atop the standings with 6-1 records.
The 'Bows will look to avenge their overtime defeat to Cal Poly last month, losing on their home court 61-57 in their Big West opener. It was their second-lowest scoring output of the season.
UH continues to be among the nation's leaders in steals. Through games played this past weekend (Feb. 1), the 'Bows rank third in both total steals (239) and steals per game (10.4).
