Game NotesHONOLULU – The University of Hawai'i men's basketball team will look to continue its undefeated mark at home, hosting UH-Hilo on Tuesday, Dec. 8 and Hawai'i Pacific on Saturday, Dec. 12. Tip off times at the Stan Sheriff Center for both games is set for 7:00 p.m.
The 'Bows come in with a 5-1 record, their only loss a road defeat at Texas Tech. They are a perfect 5-0 at home, which includes three wins and an Outrigger Resorts Rainbow Classic title to start the season. UH has won all seven meetings with UH-Hilo and will be playing the Vulcans for the fourth time in five seasons.
Aaron Valdes had his second highest scoring output of the season last game, delivering 31 points to help the 'Bows to a 89-71 win.
The 'Bows and Sharks (4-3) split their only two games with UH winning their most recent meeting in 2010. Since then, the two teams squared off only in exhibition games in 2011 and 2014 with Hawai'i winning two low scoring affairs.
UH enters the week as the top scoring team in the Big West Conference averaging 80.8 points per game and have been efficient from the field shooting a league-best 48.7 field goal percentage. Defense continues to be a hallmark for the 'Bows who also lead the league and are 13
th in the nation in steals per game (9.5).
The UH-Hilo and HPU games will be the final tune ups for the Hawaiian Airlines Diamond Head Classic held Dec. 22, 23 & 25 at the Stan Sheriff Center.
