Roderick Bobbitt vs Oklahoma

Men's Basketball

Historic Performance Lands Bobbitt Second Player of the Week

ANAHEIM, Calif. – University of Hawai'i point guard Roderick Bobbitt turned heads this past week, notching back-to-back 30-point games to help the 'Bows to a third-place finish at the Hawaiian Airlines Diamond Head Classic. For his efforts, the Oakland, Calif. native earned his second Big West Men's Basketball Player of the Week award this season.

Bobbitt, also named to the classic's all-tournament team, delivered a career-high 32 points on 8-of-12 shooting vs. No. 3 Oklahoma, including 3-for-4 from three-point range and 13-for-16 at the free throw line.  He added six assists, four rebounds and three steals as UH nearly upset the Sooners in an 84-81 loss.

Bobbitt then became just the third player in UH history to record back-to-back 30-point games when he erupted for 30 against Auburn in the third place game.  He hit a career-high six three-pointers (6-7) as the 'Bows won 79-67.

The back-to-back 30-point scoring feat was the first since 1995 (Anthony Harris) and just the third all-time along with Gavin Smith's 40 and 30-point efforts in 1977.

The 'Bows return to action on Tuesday, Dec. 29, hosting Mississippi Valley State. Tip off at the Stan Sheriff Center is set for 7:00 p.m.
