Game Highlights (Courtesy of OCSports)HONOLULU – The University of Hawai'i men's basketball team dominated for the second straight night, beating Coastal Carolina 74-63 to set the stage for a winner-take-all game against Nevada on Monday at the Outrigger Resorts Rainbow Classic. The 'Bows and Wolf Pack will play at 11:00 p.m. as part of ESPN's 24-hour Tip-Off Marathon.
Roderick Bobbitt shot a sizzling 7-10 from the floor for 23 points, three off his career high. He was 4-7 from beyond the arc including a pair of early threes to help the 'Bows to a 10-2 lead less than three minutes into the game.
Aaron Valdes added 12 points to contribute to a well-rounded offensive effort by Hawai'i (2-0).
Jaylen Shaw had 15 points for the Chanticleers (0-2) who made a late run but never threatened the outcome of the game.
Bobbitt and Valdes did the work early for the 'Bows. Bobbitt scored eight of UH's first 10 points, then an 8-0 run helped them to an 18-5 lead. UH would cool off though midway through the half and the Chanticleers (0-2) worked their way back into the game, shaving a 15-point lead down to one late in the half. Buckets by Shaw and Badou Diagne helped cut the lead to just five points with 7:10 remaining in the half.
Coastal cut the lead to one point before Bobbitt and
Sai Tummala closed out the half with a pair of three pointers. The 'Bows kept the momentum going in the second half, holding Coastal to without a field goal until 10:51 left in the half and building a 47-33 lead to win going away.
