Roderick Bobbitt stuffed the stat sheet with 10 points, five rebounds, five steals and a career-high 14 assists and the University of Hawai'i men's basketball team thrilled fans with an 87-76 opening day win over Montana State at the Outrigger Resorts Rainbow Classic on Friday night.

Stefan Jankovic, who was questionable for the game early in the week with a leg injury, had a double-double scoring 15 points and hauling in 11 rebounds.
Sai Tummala lit it up from long distance, hitting 5-6 from three-point range for a game-high 17 points and
Aaron Valdes contributed a game-high 18 points.

For the Bobcats (0-1), Zach Green and Tyler Hall shared team-high honors with 15 points. Â

The 'Bows got off to a fast start, connecting on their first six shots to take an early 14-6 lead. Three pointers by Bobbitt and Jankovic followed by a Valdes dunk lifted UH (1-0) to the eight-point lead.

MSU would get back into the game on the heels of a 10-0 run to shave the lead to just three points midway through the first half. The Rainbow Warriors responded with a barrage of Tummala three-pointers. In a span of less than two minutes, he drained three straight three-pointers, all from Bobbitt, and the 'Bows took a 48-27 lead into halftime.

MSU sprinkled a few runs during the second half but never got any closer than 11 points.

Nevada beat Coastal Carolina 73-56 in the opening game of the Classic.

The 'Bows will have Saturday off before facing Coastal Carolina on Sunday for day 2 of the Outrigger Resorts Rainbow Classic. Tip-off is set for 4:30 p.m. following Nevada vs. Montana State at 2:00 p.m.
