'Bows Open Road Swing With 84-73 Win Over CSUN

NORTHRIDGE, Calif. – The University of Hawai'i men's basketball team opened its longest road trip of the season with an 84-73 Big West Conference win over CSUN on Thursday night at the Matadome. Hawai'i improved to 15-7 overall and evened its league record at 3-3. CSUN dropped to 6-16 and 2-5 in conference.
 
Stefan Jankovic had a team-high 15 points on 5-10 shooting for the 'Bows who grabbed their first Big West win at the Matadome. Aaron Valdes and Roderick Bobbitt each added 12 points with Bobbitt dishing out a game-high eight assists.
 
Stephen Maxwell scored 28 points and pulled down 17 rebounds for CSUN in the losing effort.
 
The 'Bows opened the game hitting 10 of their first 16 shots to establish an early 10-point lead. The lead swelled to 14 points on two occasions before Garrett Nevels (8 pts) stuck a three-pointer just before halftime to lift Hawai'i to a 50-34 lead at the break. UH shot a scorching 59% from the field in the first half and 42% from beyond the arc.
 
The lead swelled to 17 points in the second half as UH cruised to the win.

With the win, UH sweeps the regular season series with the Matadors.
 
Hawai'i next visits Long Beach State and a matchup with the 49ers on Saturday, Jan. 31 at 4:00 p.m. PT (2:00 p.m. HT). The game will be streamed on ESPN3.
