Women’s Soccer Looks To Pack The House Versus UCLA

The University of Hawai`i women's soccer team hosts the Outrigger Resorts Soccer Classic this weekend, highlighted by a matchup with defending national champion and top-ranked UCLA (2-0-1) on Friday, Sept. 5. Kickoff is set for 7:00 p.m. at Waipio Peninsula Soccer Stadium and admission is free.

In an effort to break the home attendance record of more than 3,100 fans, AYSO and Meadow Gold will be donating 2,500 cartons of TruMoo chocolate milk and 2,500 ice cream sandwiches to keiki who attend the match.

Washington State and Pepperdine will precede the UH match at 4:30 p.m. The tournament concludes on Sunday, Sept. 7 with UCLA taking on Pepperdine at 2:30 p.m. and UH facing Washington State at 5:00 p.m.

It will be one of the toughest weekends of competition for UH (2-2) to date. UH has never faced the top-ranked team in the nation in the program's 20-year history. Meanwhile, Washington State (2-0-1), will provide a stern test as another Pac-12 squad that qualified for last year's NCAA Tourament.

UH is coming into the tournament with some momentum after capturing the OHANA Hotels and Resorts No Ka Oi with a pair of wins over Northern Illinois (3-2) and Seattle (2-1, OT). Krystal Pascua scored the game-winner in overtime in UH's win over the RedHawks on Sunday and leads a balanced attack with two goals this season.

This weekend's action will wrap up a six-game season-opening home stand for the Rainbow Wahine. UH will next play four straight matches on the road, before returning home for an alumnae match on Sept. 27.
