‘Bows Host Toyota Auto Body, Northern Arizona This Week

The 'Bows enter their final week of non-conference play
Match Notes

HONOLULU – The University of Hawai'i Rainbow Wahine volleyball team will close its non-conference schedule this week, hosting Northern Arizona for a pair of matches on Friday, Sept. 19 (7:00 p.m.) and Saturday, Sept. 20 (7:00 p.m.).

The 'Bows will also host Japanese professional club Toyota Auto Body in an exhibition match on Wednesday at 7:00 p.m. and have the annual alumnae match at 5:00 p.m. prior to Saturday's Northern Arizona contest.

Hawai'i was left out of this week's AVCA Top 25 national poll, the first time since the 1992 AVCA final poll. The 'Bows finished second, their third tournament runner-up finish this season, this past week at the Outrigger Resorts Volleyball Challenge. They beat Utah State and San Francisco before losing in straight sets to No. 22 UCLA. It was UH's third loss in three matches this season against Top 25 opponents.

Nikki Taylor made her first appearance of the season last week, coming off the bench against UCLA to notch a pair of kills. On Sunday against USF, she started and put down a match-high 15 kills to go along with five digs and two blocks.

Olivia Magill is far and away the block leader in the Big West Conference, putting down 55 on the season for an average of 1.67 per set.
