KAPALUA, Maui – The University of Hawai'i women's golf team is currently tied for 10
th following round two of the 3
rd Annual Anuenue Spring Break Classic, Tuesday at The Bay Course.
The Rainbow Wahine shot a second round 308 for a 615 total and is tied with Big West rival Long Beach State. No. 15 Pepperdine posted a tournament-best 287 and holds a three-stroke lead over No. 10 Washington entering Wednesday's final round. The Waves have a cumulative 577 total to UW's 580.
Individually, defending champion Grace Na of Pepperdine came within one stroke of tying the course record with a 6-under 66 and leads the tournament at 8-under 136. UC Davis' Betty Chen and Washington's Ying Luo each shot even par 72 and are 2-under 142 for the tournament.
UH freshmen
Izzy Leung fired a 4-over 76 and is tied for 20
th at 151. Fellow freshman
Brianna Becker shot 77 for the second consecutive day and is tied for 38
th at 154. Freshman
Raquel Ek shot 78 for a 155 total and a tie for 41
st along with freshman
Kelli-Anne Katsuda, who shot 77. Sophomore
Nichole Cruz improved four strokes from her first round 84 with an 80 and is tied for 78
th at 164.
Maui native
Liana Otake is one of three Rainbow Wahine competing as individuals. Otake shot 82 and has a 159 total, which is tied for 61
st. Freshman
Daezsa Tomas eagled the par-4 13
th hole, holing out from over 175 yards out and finished with an 82 for a 160 total and tie for 64
th. Senior
Charlee Kapiioho-Sagum is tied for 80
th at 165 after a second round 84.
The tournament concludes on Wednesday with a 7:45 a.m. shotgun start.
