Game Notes
The University of Hawai'i men's basketball team plays the first of two straight road games when it travels to Long Beach State on Thursday, Feb. 27. Tipoff is set for 7:30 p.m. PT (5:30 p.m. HT) at The Pyramid.
With just three games left in their regular-season schedule, the Rainbow Warriors (19-8, 8-5 BWC) sit in fourth place in the Big West, a half game behind Long Beach State (12-14, 8-4 BWC) and 1.5 games behind league-leaders UC Irvine and UC Santa Barbara.
UH seeks its fifth straight road win which would be a program first. Hawai'i already set a record for consecutive conference road wins when it won its fourth straight at Cal State Fullerton (83-80) on Feb. 15.
The 'Bows, winners of four of their last five games, are coming off an 86-77 win over UC Davis on Saturday. The win gave the team its 19th of the season, matching the highest win total for a
Gib Arnold-led squad (19-13, 2010-11). UH is now seeking its first 20-win season since 2003-04 (21-12).
Meanwhile senior forward
Christian Standhardinger is alson on the verge of a milestone. Standhardinger, who leads the team at 17.8 ppg, needs 16 more points to reach 1,000 for his UH career. Just 15 players in school-history—and just three two-year players—have accomplished the feat.
This will be the second meeting between UH and Long Beach State this year. The 49ers defeated UH, 92-83, in the first meeting in Honolulu on Jan. 30, behind 60 percent shooting and Mike Caffey's game-high 29 points.
