VIDEO: Game Highlights (courtesy OC Sports)HONOLULU – The University of Hawai'i men's basketball team overcame a sluggish first half to blowout Southern University 71-57 on Monday night at the Stan Sheriff Center. The 'Bows improved to 11-4 while the Jaguars fell to 3-11.

Stefan Jovanovic poured in a season-high 13 points for Hawai'i who used a 13-0 second-half run to break the game wide open.
Aaron Valdes had 13 points of his own and
Mike Thomas added a career-high five blocks. Jovanovic also pulled down five rebounds and shot a perfect 5-5 from the line.

Tre Lynch scored a team-high 13 points and Jared Sam added game-high eight rebounds.

Hawai'i won the turnover battle despite recording a season-high 23 turnovers.
Roderick Bobbitt (7 pts, 3 stl) had a season-high six of his own.

UH led by nine points early in the second half before Jovanovic's jumper and three-point play added to the lead.
Isaac Fleming's three-pointer capped the big run as the 'Bows took a 54-32 lead with 10:56 to play.

The Jags ran off seven straight points over a 1:11 span to force a UH timeout, but it proved to be too little too late as the 'Bows raced to the finish line.

The game began with some extracurriculars between Fleming and Trelun Banks, resulting in a pair of technical fouls. The 'Bows went scoreless for nearly three minutes to start the game before
Negus Webster-Chan and Bobbitt nailed back-to-back threes to quickly give UH a 6-4 lead.

UH worked its first-half lead to seven points off a pair of Jovanovic free throws, then extended the advantage to 10 points on a
Garrett Nevels (4 pts, 4 ast) jumper. The Rainbow Warrior defense picked up in the later stages of the half as UH went into the locker room with a 31-23 lead.

The 'Bows close out their non-conference schedule tomorrow when they tip off with Prairie View A&M at 7:00 p.m. at the Stan Sheriff Center.
