Round 1 ResultsKA'ANAPALI, Maui – The University of Hawai'i men's golf team is currently tied for 11
th place following the first round of the Ka'anapali Classic Collegiate Invitational Friday at the Royal Ka'anapali Golf Course.
Competing as an individual, sophomore
Pono Tokioka shot 3-under 68 to lead all UH golfers. It marked the second straight tournament that the Lihu'e, Kaua'i native shot 3-under to open a tournament after posting a 69 on Monday at the Warrior Princeville Makai Invitational. Tokioka posted five birdies on his round.
Among those competing for the UH team, senior
Brian Lee and sophomore
Skye Inakoshi each shot 2-under 69 while junior
Scotty Yamashita fired even par 71. Senior
Ryan Kuroiwa and freshman
Adrian Lee posted 77 and 83, respectively.
Also competing as individuals were sophomore
Zachary Braunthal (71), junior
Justin Chu (77), and freshman
Smart Kittirattanapaiboon (78).
No. 2 Oregon leads the tournament after a 30-under 254, 15 strokes ahead of North Florida (269). Kansas is third (270), followed by Clemson (272), Gonzaga (274), and Georgia (275).
Oregon's Brandon McIver shot 9-under 62 and holds a one stroke lead over teammate Jonathan Woo, Loyola Marymount's Connor Campbell, and North Florida's Joey Petronio.
The tournament continues Saturday with the second round.
