Women's Volleyball Gears Up For Cal Poly, UCSB

The 'Bows return to action this weekend against Cal Poly, UCSB
Match Notes

HONOLULU – The University of Hawai'i Rainbow Wahine volleyball team will look to get back on track, hosting Cal Poly and UC Santa Barbara for a pair of Big West Conference matches this week at the Stan Sheriff Center. The 'Bows will play Cal Poly on Friday, Oct. 24 (7:00 p.m.) and UCSB on Sunday, Oct. 26 (4:00 p.m.)

The Rainbow Wahine (12-5, 4-2 BWC), idle this past week, most recently dropped league matches at CSUN and Long Beach State. The straight-set loss to the Matadors was the first sweep from a conference opponent since Utah State in the final of the 2010 WAC Tournament. The CSUN match also saw UH's 21-set win streak come to a screeching halt.

The 'Bows are 33-4 overall against Cal Poly which includes a 4-0 postseason record. The two teams twice squared off in the NCAA Regional, the last in 1989 where the 'Bows rallied to win in five sets. The Mustangs (7-10, 2-5 BWC), like the 'Bows, are coming off a pair of losses to CSUN and league-leader Long Beach State.

UCSB (9-9, 4-3 BWC) , next to Long Beach State, have beat Hawai'i more times than any current conference opponent. UH leads the all-time series 32-8 and, like Cal Poly, includes a 4-0 postseason mark. The two teams engaged in a pair of epic matches last season, both winning on each other's court. UCSB's win snapped UH's conference win streak of 77 matches dating back to the 2008 season as a member of the Western Athletic Conference.
