UH Signee Jennings Franciskovic Earns All-America Honors

University of Hawai'i men's volleyball signee Jennings Franciskovic was one of 10 players selected to the American Volleyball Coaches Association High School Senior All-America Team for boy's volleyball.

“We are proud of Jennings accomplishments as a hitter, but even more proud of the leadership he showed to do what was best for his team and embrace the challenge of playing a new position,” UH head coach Charlie Wade said. “We are excited to have him in our practice gym this fall and have him be a Warrior!”

Franciskovic recently graduated from Oaks Christian High School in Westlake Village, Calif. Last month, he posted 30 kills, 11 digs, and six blocks in a five-set victory over rival Oak Park, snapping the Eagles' 65-match league winning streak. He had 12 kills combined in the decisive fourth and fifth sets.

Although recruited as a setter, Franciskovic played primarily outside hitter during his senior year. He is a two-time all-Tri-Valley first team pick and was selected to Volleyball magazine's Top 30 Underclassmen to Watch last summer.

In addition to playing for the USA Volleyball Youth National A2 team, he was the starting setter and team captain for Pacific Palisades Volleyball Club, where he was a member for the past five years.

A total of 20 student-athletes representing 16 high schools from seven different states were selected to the AVCA All-America first and second teams. Mira Costa High School leads all schools with two AVCA First-Team All-Americans and one Second-Team All-American. Loyola High School of Los Angeles and Palos Verdes High School are second with two AVCA All-Americans. Only players in their high school senior season whose high school head coaches are AVCA members were eligible for nomination.
