STANFORD, Calif.—The University of Hawai'i women's tennis team (4-10, 3-3 Big West) was swept at No. 13 Stanford (14-3, 6-1 PAC-12), 7-0 on Tuesday at the Taube Family Tennis Stadium in Stanford, Calif.
The Cardinal won all three doubles matches to go up 1-0. UH's No. 2 duo of
Martina Kostalova and
Rebecca Faltusz had the strongest showing of the day, but Kristie Ahn and Amelia Herring held the 'Bows off, 8-6
In singles, Stanford swept the singles competition with six straight-set victories en route to its third straight win. The Rainbow Wahine struggled, winning just 17 games combined. No. 2
Katarina Poljakova and No. 5
Kelsey Daguio were able to put up the biggest fight. Poljakova fell to 15th-ranked Krista Hardebeck, 6-2, 6-3 while Natalie Dillon defeated Daguio, 6-4, 6-1.
The match against the Cardinal concluded their four-match swing through California with a 1-3 record. Hawai'i dropped a pair of 4-3 heartbreakers at Pacific and Sacramento State before bouncing back to down UC Davis, 4-3 this past Monday. The' Bows return home for their final home match of the season against Cal State Northridge on Saturday, April 13 at 11:00 a.m. at the UH Tennis Complex. It will be Senior Day for Poljakova and
Kelly Domingo.
