HONOLULU—The University of Hawai'i women's tennis team (4-10, 3-3 Big West) returns this week to host its final home match of the season on Saturday, April 13 against Cal State Northridge at 11:00 a.m. The conference match will also be “Senior Day” for the Rainbow Wahine for
Katarina Poljakova.
The 'Bows are returning from a four-match roadtrip in California where the team went 1-3. UH fell twice at Pacific and Sacramento State by one point, 3-4 before holding on to knock off conference foe, UC Davis, 4-3 on Monday. Hawai`i completed their roadtrip with a loss at No. 13 Stanford.
Martina Kostalova has been the most consistent Rainbow Wahine lately, winning four of her last five singles matches at the No. 3 slot. With the match at UC Davis tied at 3-3, it was Kostalova who came through with the three-set win to capture the match and even their conference record at 3-3. Poljakova is 8-9 in singles and has won three of her last five matches on the No. 2 court while
Xenia Suworowa has taken over at the No. 1 singles slot and has done well, winning four of her last six matches.
