DAVIS, Calif.—The University of Hawai'i women's tennis team (4-9, 3-3 Big West) edged out UC Davis (8-11, 3-4 BWC) win in a Big West Conference match at UC Davis. With the match tied at 3-3, Martina Kostalova came through with a clutch three-set win to secure the win for the 'Bows. The match was originally scheduled for April 4 but pushed back due to inclement weather.
 
After dropping the first doubles match of the day, Hawai'i captured the point with UH's No. 1 team of Katarina Poljakova and Xenia Suworowa knocking off Nicole Koehly and Layla Sanders, 8-1 for the point. Then the No. 2 duo of Martina Kostalova and Rebecca Faltusz defeated the Aggies' Melissa Kobayakawa and Megan Heneghan, 8-3 to go up on UC Davis, 1-0.
 
In singles, it was the Aggies who came out on fire, capturing the first two matches with Edles defeating Daguio on the No. 5 court, 6-0. 6-0 and Melissa Kobayakawa defeated Paulina Petriskova, 6-1, 6-4 in the No. 4 match. Poljakova dominated in straight sets in the No.2 against Sanders, 6-2, 6-0 to even the match at 2-2. UC Davis' Koehly though then held off Rebecca Faltusz, 6-3, 6-1 to take a 3-2 lead. UH's No. 1 Suworowa then knotted the match again at 3-3 with a 6-1, 6-1 victory over Megan Heneghan. Kostalova then won the first set over Curry, 6-3, but fell in the second set, 5-7. But Kostalova bounced back to take the third set to seal the win, 6-2.
 
The win snapped their four-match losing streak, with UH falling in the last three matches 3-4. The Rainbow Wahine complete their four-match roadtrip on Tuesday, when they face No. 12 Stanford.
