SACRAMENTO, Calif. – The University of Hawai'i Rainbow Wahine tennis team fell to the Sacramento State Hornets in a nail-biting 4-3 loss this Saturday, Apr. 6 at the Rio Del Oro Racquet Club in Sacramento, California.
 
With the first doubles match finishing quickly, UH's bottom pairing of Paulina Petriskova and Kelly Domingo fell in a tiebreak against Sophie Lohscheidt and Andrea Gomez Carus, 9-7. Dopping two of the three doubles matches, SAC secured the point. Katarina Poljakova and Xenia Suworowa kept fighting and won in a close tiebreak against Rebeca Delgado and Olivia Boija, 8-7(5).
 
Singles play began with UH behind 1-0. Boija took the first singles match against Petriskova on the No. 4 Court, 6-4, 6-1. Martina Kostalova defeated Lohscheidt convincingly, 6-3, 6-0, to keep the Wahine in the match at 3-1. Suworowa would fall on the No. 1 court against Delgado, 6-4, 6-1, guaranteeing the Hornets' victory.
 
Poljakova defeated Jennifer Nguyen, 7-5, 6-2, and Rebecca Faltusz defeated Gomez Carus in a three set match, 6-2, 4-6, 11-9.
 
UH will travel to Stanford, Calif. to face the No. 12 Stanford Cardinal on Tuesday, Apr. 9 at 10:30 a.m.
