Final Results
SANTA CRUZ, Calif. –The University of Hawai'i men's golf team concluded its regular season with the final round of the 67
th Transamerica/WFG Western Intercollegiate Sunday at Pasatiempo Golf Club.
The Warriors (361-381-381) finished in 14
th place after shooting a third round 381 for a total of 1123 in the play-six, score-five format.
Top-ranked California (350-361-340) ran away with the team title after shooting a third round 340, overcoming a nine-stroke deficit and finishing at 1051. No. 5 UCLA (341-361-362), the Round 2 leader, was runner-up after shooting a third round 362 to finish at 1064. Seventh-ranked Stanford (351-366-364) finished in third at 1081.
Individually, UCLA's Pedro Figueiredo (65-71-68) took titlist honors after shooting a third round 68 to at 6-under 204, two strokes better than Cal's Max Homa (67-73-66) and Michael Kim (67-73-66), who both shot 66 on Sunday.
Leading the Warriors was junior
Nainoa Calip (71-69-77), a Hilo native, who shot a third round 77 to finish at 7-over 217 and a tie for 23
rd place. Junior
David Saka (69-75-77) tied for 37
th after shooting a final round 77 to finish with a three round total of 221. Freshman
Scotty Yamashita (71-79-72) shot 72 to finish with at 222 and a tie for 40
th.
Also competing for UH was sophomore
Reo Saito (74-80-78=232/t75th), junior
Tommy Yamashita (76-78-80=234/t80th) and senior
Cory Oride (81-81-77=239/86th).
The Warriors will next participate in their first-ever Big West Championship Sunday, April 28 through Tuesday, April 30 in Beaumont, Calif.
