Britos Moves Up At ‘Anuenue Spring Break Classic

KAPALUA, Maui – University of Hawai'i senior Ka'ili Britos soared up 15 spots up the leaderboard after the second round of the 'Anuenue Spring Break Cassic Tuesday at Kapalua Resort's Bay Course.
 
Britos, a senior from Honolulu, had a spectacular start to her round, with a birdie on her opening hole at No. 15, then posting 11 consecutive pars before bogeying the par-4 9th. She finished at 1-over 73 after a bogey on her 17th hole and is tied for 36th with a two-round score of 6-over 150.
 
No. 10 Washington leads the team competition at 573 with No. 11 UCLA close behnd at 578 after a 5-under 283 on Tuesday. Rounding out the top five is No. 31 Pepperdine (581), No. 17 Arizona State (582), and No. 34 Denver (591). The host Rainbow Wahine is 17th at 628, after a second round 315.
 
Denver's Tonje Daffinrud tied the course record with a 7-under 65 tying the low round held by Dawn Kaneshiro in the 2000 Players Ability Test. Daffinrud is the round two leader at 7-under 137, one stroke ahead of Pepperdine's Grace Na (138).
 
UH freshman Nichole Cruz had a fast start to her second round with a birdie and four pars through her first five, before faltering over her next nine holes going 8-over during that stretch. She finished with one birdie and three pars to close with a 6-over 78 and is tied for 62nd at 12-over 156.
 
Junior Charlee Kapiioho struggled through her first 10 holes, with two birdies, three bogeys, and three double bogeys. She steadied her round and finished with an 81 and a two-round score of 161 and is tied for 85th with teammate Liana Otake, who shot a second-round 83. Senior Megan Inouye also shot 83 and is in 94th place at 168.
 
The tournament concludes with the third and final round, Wednesday with a 7:45 a.m. shotgun start.
