HONOLULU – The University of Hawai'i Rainbow Wahine tennis team (3-7, 2-2 Big West) fell to No. 40 San Diego State (5-3) on Saturday, Mar. 2 at the UH Tennis Complex.
 
The doubles point went to the Aztecs as they won two of the three matches. The 'Bows' Xenia Suworowa and Rebecca Faltusz were defeated on the second court against SDSU's Julia Wais and Kristin Buth, 8-2. UH's lone victory came at the hands of Katarina Poljakova and Paulina Petriskova on the No. 1 court against Michela Casanova and Laura Antonana Iriarte, 8-3. Martina Kostalova and Kelsey Daguio almost came away with the win, but fell to Alicia Aguilar and Isabelle Hoorn, 8-6.
 
In singles play, SDSU kept the momentum from the doubles wins and handily defeated UH 5-1. On the No. 6 court, Kelsey Daguio took the first set, 6-3, against Casanova, but could not keep the momentum, losing in straight sets, 6-3, 6-3. Also, Kostalova won the first set, 6-4, but lost the next two sets against Tami Nguyen, 6-4, 10-3. The lone win for UH came from Suworowa defeating Aguilar in straight sets, 6-1, 7-6(3).
 
The 'Bows will have two weeks to re-energize when they face Brigham Young on Saturday, Mar. 16 at 11:00 a.m. at the UH Tennis Complex.
