TUCSON, Ariz. – Freshman
Scotty Yamashita shot a final round 76 to pace the University of Hawai'i men's golf team at the Don Puckette NIT Sunday at the Omni Tucson National Golf Club.
As a team, the Warriors shot a final round 299, its best of the tournament, to tie for 14
th place with a 903 total (302-302-299). Yamashita, a freshman from Honolulu, shot his worst round of the tournament on Sunday but still managed to finisher with team honors at 7-over 223, which tied for 51
st.
Fifth-ranked New Mexico captured the team title with an 844 total after a final round 279 to win by once stroke over No. 18 TCU. Julien Brun of TCU held on to win medalist honors despite a 3-over 75 on Sunday to finish at 8-under 208, one stroke better than Texas A&M's Ben Crancer (209).

Ryan Kuroiwa fired four birdies on Sunday to close with a 1-over 73, tops on the team, and finish the tourney at 230 (82-75-73/t76

The Warriors will take the next two weeks off before a long road trip which will take them to the ASU/Thunderbird Invitational (April 5-7) in Tempe, Ariz., Wyoming Cowboy Classic (April 8-9) in Scottsdale, Ariz., and Western Intercollegiate (April 14-15) in Santa Cruz, Calif.
