ANAHEIM, Calif. – The No. 5 seed University of Hawai'i men's basketball team (17-13, 10-8 Big West) makes its Big West Tournament debut when it faces No. 4 seed UC Irvine (18-14, 11-5 BWC) on Thursday, March 14. Tipoff will be approximately 8:30 p.m. PT at the Honda Center in Anaheim, Calif.
 
After a promising start in Big West play, the Rainbow Warriors finished fifth in the league standings by dropping four of its final five league games. UH concluded the regular-season with an 88-75 road loss at Cal State Northridge on March 7. The 'Bows will have a week to prepare for the Anteaters, a squad in which it split the season series. UCI won in California, 68-64, in the first meeting on Jan. 9, while the Rainbow Warriors won in Honolulu, 78-72, a month later.
 
The winner of Thursday's game will advance to Friday's semifinals. The bracket will be reseeded following the quarterfinals as the highest remaining seeded team will be pitted against the lowest remaining seeded team in one game.
 
Leading the Rainbow Warriors are first-team all-Big West forward Christian Standhardinger (15.9 ppg, 7.9 rpg) and senior center Vander Joaquim (14.1 ppg, 8.4 rpg), an honorable mention pick. Senior point guard Jace Tavita continues to lead the Big West at 5.6 apg.
