HONOLULU – The University of Hawai'i men's basketball team (17-11, 10-6 Big West) plays its final home game of the season when it hosts Cal Poly (14-12, 9-6 BWC) in a critical Big West matchup on Saturday, March 2. Tipoff is set for 7:30 p.m. and will be part of a doubleheader with the women's team, who face Cal State Northridge at 5:00 p.m.
Saturday's doubleheader is a “Whiteout” with all fans encouraged to wear white. It will also be “Senior Night” for the men as
Hauns Brereton,
Vander Joaquim and
Jace Tavita will be making their final home appearances and will be honored at the conclusion of the contest.
Just one game separates four teams in Big West standings. UH--coming off a 70-66 win versus UC Santa Barbara on Thursday--is currently in third place just a half game behind second-place Pacific. Cal Poly and UC Irvine are tied for fourth just a half game behind UH.
UH looks to avenge its worst setback of the season after the Mustangs handed the Rainbow Warriors an 88-59 loss in the first meeting between the teams on Jan. 24. Cal Poly defeated Cal State Northridge, 81-61, on Thursday for its fifth win in its last six games.

Ticket Information: $26 (lower); $18 (upper-adult); $16 (upper-sr. citizen); $5 (upper-youth, ages 4-HS); UH Manoa students free with validated ID. Parking $6. Fans with a men's ticket will be admitted free to the preceding women's basketball tournament games. Special upper level ticket rates will be also be available on game day from two hours prior to the start of the women's basketball game until halftime of the women's game.
Promotions: Saturday will be a
White Out with all fans encouraged to wear white for the doubleheader. The first 300 students who arrive at the women's game will receive a white shirt.
Oceanic Time Warner Cable is the sponsor of the contest and will award $300 in gas cards at halftime and will distribute 600 pom-poms for the UH student section. The
University of Hawaii Federal Credit Union will distribute 3,000 team photos on
“Senior Night.”
Coaches: Gib Arnold is in his third year at UH (52-40). Joe Callero is in his fourth season at Cal Poly (59-61) and 14th season overall (198-191).
