No. 68 Women's Tennis Takes On Xavier, San Diego State

HONOLULU – The No. 68 University of Hawai'i women's tennis team (3-6, 2-2 Big West) returns home to the UH Tennis Complex this week to host Xavier Feb. 27 and San Diego State on Mar. 2.

The Rainbow Wahine looks to bounce back after a four-match California road-trip in which they went 1-3, beating UC Riverside and losing to Cal State Fullerton, No. 46 Long Beach State, and San Diego. Last week, the 'Bows lost 5-1 to the Torreros and did not play doubles due to inclement weather at the Hogan Tennis Center. UH's Katarina Poljakova was the standout, winning all four of her matches at the No.1 position for Hawai`i. Overall, she is 5-2 and 4-0 in Big West Conference matches. She is riding a four-match win streak going into this week's matchups.

The Xavier Musketeers (7-2) are currently on a two-match win streak as they come to O'ahu. Alex Brinker has had the hottest hand for Xavier as she is 8-1 in dual matches, including a 2-0 record in conference play. Brinker is riding a seven-match win streak.

The San Diego State Aztecs (4-3) have lost two of their last three matches and both losses come at the hands ranked opponents--No. 43 Long Beach State and No. 6 Southern California. Their most recent match was against Loyola Marymount where they handily defeated the Lions, 6-1, including five of six singles matches.
