FULLERTON, Calif.—The No. 61 University of Hawai'i women's tennis team (1-3, 1-1 Big West) fell in a tight match at Cal State Fullerton (4-4, 2-1 Big West), 4-3 on Wednesday afternoon. The Titans opened by capturing the doubles point with No. 1 Tiffany Mai and Monica Rodriguez defeating UH's Katarina Poljakova and Kelsey Daguio, 8-3 while on the  No. 3 court, CSUF's Emilia Borkowski and Megan Sandford knocked off Martina Kostalova and Kelly Domingo, 8-2. UH partners Paulina Petriskova and Rebecca Faltusz battle hard against Morgan McIntosh and Kalika Slevecove, but the match went unfinished tied at 6-6.
 
In singles however, the Rainbow Wahine made a serious charge. Hawai'i's No. 4, Petriskova starting things rolling for UH, as she defeated Borkowski in straight sets, 6-2, 6-3. But  CSUF countered with Sandford defeating Faltusz, 6-1, 6-4 and then UH's Xenia Suworowa fell to McIntosh, 2-6, 3-6. With the 'Bows down overall in the match 1-3, the Rainbow Wahine battled back with No. 3 Kostalova managing to overwhelm Rodriguez, 6-1, 1-6, 6-1 and then Poljakova held off Mai on the No. 1 court, 6-4, 7-5 to even the match at 3-3. It came down to the closest match of the day between UH's Daguio and CSUF's Slevcove. Daguio took the first set, 6-4, but Slevcove fought back to take the second set in a tie-breaker, 7-6 (5). In the third and deciding set, Slevcove outlasted Daguio, 7-5 to win the match for the Titans, 4-3.
 
The Rainbow Wahine continue their West Coast swing tomorrow at UC Riverside at 11:00 a.m.
