Game Notes
The University of Hawai'i men's basketball team (15-9, 9-4 BWC) heads to Northern California for a pair of critical Big West road games beginning with a contests at UC Davis (9-13, 5-6 BWC) on Thursday, Feb. 14. Tipoff is set for 7:00 p.m. PT (5:00 p.m. HT) at The Pavilion.
The Rainbow Warriors are riding a season-long five-game win streak following a pair of big home victories over UC Irvine (78-72) and league-leading Long Beach State (94-73). With the wins the 'Bows moved to within 1.5 games of Long Beach State and remain in the hunt for a Big West title with just five league games remaining. Junior forward
Christian Standhardinger averaged 20.0 ppg and 11.0 rpg in the two wins to capture Big West Player of the Week honors for the second straight week.
After avenging earlier losses to Long Beach State and UC Irvine this past weekend, the 'Bows will now look to do the same against an Aggie squad that defeated the Rainbow Warriors, 93-82, in Honolulu on Jan. 19. Corey Hawkins scored 40 points—one shy of the Stan Sheriff Center record—in helping UC Davis hand UH what has been its only loss in seven conference home games.
UH aims for its sixth straight win which would be the longest streak since the 2004-05 season. The 'Bows also look for its fourth straight road win, something the program has never accomplished in conference play.
