Swimming and Diving Hosts Purdue To Open New Year

Lauren Hall won bronze in the 3-meter and had two more top 10 finishes at the Texas Diving Invitational in November
HONOLULU – The University of Hawai'i swimming and diving teams kick off the new year on Saturday hosting Top 25 Purdue in a dual meet at the Duke Kahanamoku Aquatic Complex.

The Boilermaker men's team comes in ranked No. 12 nationally with the women's team positioned at No. 17. The 'Bows will be competing for the first time since November when the divers took part in the Texas Diving Invitational and the UH swimmers participated in the Arena Swimming Invitational.

Amund Gismervick had a memorable outing in Austin, setting two UH records and winning gold in the platform dive. In Los Angeles over the same weekend, the Rainbow Warrior swimmers won the Arena Invite with freshman Viktor Goicoechea breaking a nine-year-old UH record in the 500 free. The Rainbow Wahine finished third.

The meet starts at 10:30 a.m. with a to-be-determined diving event followed by the swimming competition at 12:30 p.m.
