Men's Basketball Readies For Monday “Blackout” Night

HONOLULU – The University of Hawai'i Rainbow Warrior basketball team takes aim at the Outrigger Hotels and Resorts Rainbow Classic title when its faces New Mexico State in a nationally televised contest at midnight on Monday at the Stan Sheriff Center.
 
The late-night tip will be part of ESPN's College Hoops Tip-off Marathon, the sixth straight year UH has participated in the event. It will be a UH "Blackout" as all fans are encouraged to wear black for the midnight tipoff.     
 
With is second straight win to start the season—a 78-68 victory over Western Michigan on Saturday—UH set itself up for a shot at its 14th Classic title. Former conference foe New Mexico State stands in UH's way after improving to 1-1 with a 70-55 win over Tennessee State. 
 
Western Michigan (1-1) and Tennessee State (0-2) will meet up earlier in the day at 2:00 p.m. in the tournament's penultimate game.

Ticket Information: General Admission - $10 (adult); $5 (senior citizen and youth). UH Manoa students free with validated ID. Parking $6.
Promotions: Outrigger Hotels and Resorts is the tournament sponsor and will distribute 1,000 tote bags beginning one hour prior to the game. Outrigger will also award up to $2,000 a night during its popular "Shoot for Loot" promotional activity at halftime. It's a "Blackout" during UH's as fans are encouraged to  wear black shirts for the midnight contest.  All seats are general admission.
Coaches: Gib Arnold is in his fourth year at UH (54-44). Marvin Menzies is in his seventh season at New Mexico State (127-80).
