Match Notes
HONOLULU – The No. 5 University of Hawai'i women's volleyball team returns home after two solid road victories to host UC Santa Barbara and Cal Poly this week in a pair of Big West Conference matches at the Stan Sheriff Center. The 'Bows will play UCSB on Friday, Oct. 11 and Cal Poly on Saturday, Oct. 12. Both start times are set for 7:00 p.m.
UH took care of business last week with wins against Long Beach State and UC Irvine in its first conference road trip of the season. The Rainbow Wahine swept the 49ers last Friday in front of a regionally televised audience on Fox Sports West, then drowned the Anteaters the following night to close the trip.
The 'Bows also enter the week having moved up one spot in the AVCA national poll to No. 5 and were ranked No. 3 in the NCAA's first RPI of the season.
Emily Hartong continues to lead the Rainbow Wahine after being named Big West Player of the Week for the third time this season and seventh in her career. She currently sits tied for No. 20 in the NCAA's active career kills list, and leads the league in total kills (259) and kills per set (4.62), while ranking No. 8 in hitting percentage (.308).
