Match Notes
The No. 13 University of Hawai'i Rainbow Wahine volleyball team returns home this week to host UC Irvine (Friday, Nov. 1) and Long Beach State (Saturday, Nov. 2). The 'Bows (16-4, 5-3 Big West) are coming off a difficult Big West Conference road trip where they dropped a pair of five-setters, first to Cal State Northridge and then to UC Davis.
UH finds itself in a precarious position of third in the Big West behind Cal State Northridge and UC Santa Barbara, both who have wins over the 'Bows this season. The three conference losses mark the most since 1994, their first run in the Big West.
The matches this week begin the second half of the conference season where Hawai'i will look to rebound and make a run at its 19th straight conference title. The 'Bows continue to lead the Big West in hitting percentage (.278), kills (14.41 k/s) and assists (13.35 a/s).
The Big West's top hitter Emily Hartong struggled against Cal State Northridge, hitting just .174 for the night, but rallied for a solid match against the Aggies in which she hit an impressive .459 (29-2-59) to go along with a season-high 21 digs.
