Match Notes
HONOLULU – The No. 8 University of Hawai'i Rainbow Wahine volleyball team will hit the road this week for a pair of Big West Conference matches. The 'Bows first play league leader Cal State Northridge (Thursday, Oct. 24) then close the trip at UC Davis (Saturday, Oct. 26).
After losing to UC Santa Barbara two weeks ago, the 'Bows find themselves in a precarious position of second place in the conference, trailing CSUN (16-4, 6-1) by just percentage points. The match on Thursday against the Matadors will be a pivotal one as UCSB, also with a 5-1 Big West record is tied for second with UH.
The Rainbow Wahine took on their alumnae last week, sweeping the former 'Bows but giving the fans a fun-filled third set. The Alumnae led early but UH rallied to pull out a 28-26 win to complete the sweep. At the intermission, longtime volunteer James "Jimbo" Buccella was honored for his years of service to the program.
The 'Bows continue to dominate the Big West statistically. They lead the league in hitting percentage (.297), opponent hitting percentage (.167), assists per set (13.31), and kills per set (14.47).
Start time for both matches is set for 7:00 p.m. PT (4:00 p.m. HT).
