SEAL BEACH, Calif. – Despite playing one man down, the University of Hawai'i men's golf team defeated Loyola Marymount, 3-2, Saturday, in a dual match at the Old Ranch Country Club.
The Rainbow Warriors played without senior
Nainoa Calip, who was ill. Instead junior
Brian Lee played two matches, winning one, 5 and 3 over Lawrence Ree, and losing one,
1-down to Peter Hassan.
Lee won UH's only match in the team's 4-1 loss to UC Irvine on Friday.
Sophomore
Scotty Yamashita and junior
Ryan Kuroiwa each won their matches. Yamashita defeated Nick Cantlay, 2 and 1 while Kuroiwa defeated Cole Young, 5 and 4.
In the other match,
Skye Inakoshi dropped a 4 and 3 decision to Connor Campbell.
The Rainbow Warriors are currently on an 11-day road trip, competing at two tournaments – Alister MacKenzie Invitational in Sonoma, Calif., and the Bill Cullum Invitational in Simi Valley, Calif. In between tournaments, UH scheduled dual matches with UC Irvine and Loyola Marymount.
