Men’s Golf Drops Dual Match To UC Irvine, 4-1

LAGUNA NIGUEL, Calif. – The University of Hawai'i men's golf team dropped a 4-1 dual match to fellow Big West Conference member UC Irvine, Friday at El Niguel Country Club.
 
The Rainbow Warriors are currently on an 11-day road trip, competing at two tournaments – Alister MacKenzie Invitational in Sonoma, Calif., and the Bill Cullum Invitational in Simi Valley, Calif. In between tournaments, UH has scheduled dual matches with UC Irvine and Loyola Marymount.
 
In five match-play matches, UH junior Brian Lee was the lone Rainbow Warrior to win his match, defeating Travis Russell, 4 and 3. UCI took the other four matches – Pete Fernandez over Nainoa Calip, 1-up; Allan Jun over Skye Inakoshi, 8 and 7; Jacob Schulze over Scotty Yamashita, 4 and 3; and Ryan Knapp over Ryan Kuroiwa, 2 and 1.
 
The Rainbow Warriors and LMU will compete on Saturday in Long Beach, Calif.
