Final Results

PALM DESERT, Calif. – For the second time in as many tournaments during the fall season, the University of Hawai'i women's golf team finished in sixth place, this time at the Wyoming Cowgirl Desert Intercollegiate, Sunday, at The Classic Club.
 
The Rainbow Wahine shot a final round 308 to finish 10 strokes behind the team champion Cal State Fullerton, who held off Cal State Northridge by one stroke. UH shot rounds of 314, 297, and 308 for a 919 total.
 
UH freshman sensation Izzy Leung placed fourth individually after her final round 76 to finish 4-over 220. The Hong Kong native was sixth at the season-opening Bronco Fall Classic last month.
 
Leung entered Sunday's final round in third place but could not make up any ground and finished seven strokes behind Cal Poly's Taylor Yoshitake and CSUN's Clarise Guce, who carded identical scores of 3-under 213. Yoshitake won medalist honors on a scorecard playoff.
 
Freshman Raquel Ek tied for 21^st at 229 following her final round 76. After opening the tournament with a first round 80, the San Diego, Calif., native shot 73 and 76. Sophomore Nichole Cruz shot 79 on Sunday to finish the tournament at 236 (80-77-79) to tie for 50^th place.
 
Competing in her first collegiate tournament, freshman Brianna Becker tied for 54^th at 237. The Las Vegas, Nev., native concluded the tourney with consecutive rounds of 77 after opening with 83. Freshman Kelli-Anne Katsuda finished at 244 (80-82-82) to tie for 75^th.
 
The Rainbow Wahine will next host the Rainbow Wahine Invitational, Oct. 29-31 at the Leilehua Golf Course in Schofield Barracks, O'ahu.
