Fall camp is underway for the University of Hawai'i football team and its season-opener at USC is less than a month away. HawaiiAthletics.com will breakdown the 2012 Warrior football team, position-by-position. Today's feature is the offensive line.

Starter Returning: David Lefotu
Starters Lost: Clayton Laurel, Levi Legay, Brett Leonard, London Sapolu
Letterwinners Returning: Kody AfusiaJordan LoefflerFrank Loyd Jr., Sean Shigematsu, Chauncy Winchester-Makainai
Redshirts: Ben Dew, Hunter Hollowed, Blake Muir
Newcomers: Ben Clarke, Leo Koloamatangi, Mike Milovale, Kapua Sai, Kiha Sai, Brenden Urban

The position group hit the hardest by graduation was offensive line, where the Warriors lost four starters and three other letterwinners who combined to make 76 career starts.

Among the returnees include two juniors, five sophomores and three redshirt freshmen who have combined to make seven career starts. Still there is optimism as the group welcomes two transfers and several highly touted freshman to the mix.

The only returning starter is David Lefotu, a sophomore from Pearl City, O'ahu, who played in 11 games and made seven starts at right guard, where he is penciled in at No. 1 heading into fall camp. Chauncy Winchester-Makainai, a junior from Kailua, O'ahu, who appeared in nine games last year, will also battle for the starting nod.

Atop the depth chart at right tackle is Jordan Loeffler, a sophomore from Hilo, Hawai'i, who saw action in 10 games last season and Sean Shigematsu, a sophomore from Kapa'a, Kaua'i, who started the first two games of last season before suffering a season-ending knee injury. With UH's top two quarterbacks left-handed, the right tackle spot is of greater significance this season.

True freshman Ben Clarke, of Littleton, Colo., and sophomore Kody Afusia, of Midway City, Calif., battled it out during the spring for the starting center spot. Afusia saw action in 10 games as a back-up center and guard.

Entering fall camp, a pair of redshirt freshmen occupy the left side of the line in left guard Ben Dew, of Auckland, New Zealand, and left tackle Blake Muir, of Sutherland, Australia. Both redshirted last season.

Redshirt junior Hunter Hollowed, of Redlands, Calif., is a backup guard and sophomore Frank Loyd, Jr., of 'Aiea, O'ahu, appeared in one game as a backup tackle last season.

Several newcomers may also see time this fall including Utah transfer Kapua Sai (Kane'ohe, O'ahu) and his brother, true freshman Kiha Sai, of Kamehameha Schools-Kapalama. Kapua Sai played sparingly in two seasons at Utah, where he graduated in three years and is taking advantage of the NCAA's graduate transfer rule which makes him eligible this season.

Mike Milovale is a junior-college transfer from Hartnell College, was rated as one of the top offensive guards in the nation.
