Round 2 Results
HENDERSON, Nev. – University of Hawai'i men's golfer
T.J. Kua climbed 20 spots up the leader board at the 2012 WAC Men's Championship, Tuesday, at the Rio Secco Golf Club.
The Kaua'i native started the day with a birdie on the first hole and was 1-under through the front nine before catching fire on the back nine where he shot a bogey free 3-under par. Kua's second round 4-under 68 puts him in a tie for eighth place at 2-over 146 after rebounding from a first round 6-over 78.
Also in the top-20 are junior
Cory Oride and sophomore
Nainoa Calip who both shot 4-over 76 for the round. Oride is in a tie for 13th at 4-over 148 while Calip is tied for 17th at 5-over 149.
Senior
Jared Sawada (81-78=159/t33rd) and sophomore
David Saka (81-82=163/38th) round out the rest of the team.
San Jose State leads all teams at 58 and leads four time defending champion New Mexico State by two strokes at 583. Fresno State (287-301=588), Idaho (287-303=590), and UH (304-298=602) round out the top-five.
Individually NMSU's Justin Shin leads at 6-under par after shooting a second round 4-under 68. IU's Sean McMullen and SJSU's Jay Myers are tied for second at 4-under par.
The WAC Championship will conclude Wednesday with the third and final round.
