No. 53 Hawai`i Sweeps Utah State

HONOLULU—The No. 53 University of Hawai`i women's tennis team (10-6, 1-1 WAC) swept Utah State, 6-0 in a rain shortened match. The match moved from the UH Tennis Complex to the courts at Kapiolani Park due to inclement weather in Manoa on Friday afternoon.
 
It was the third time this season that the Rainbow Wahine were able to sweep its competition. In the No. 1 singles match, Barbara Pinterova (8-4) knocked off McKenzie Davis 6-1, 6-2 while in the No. 2 match, Katarina Poljakova battled back after dropping the first set 3-6 to take the second set 6-2. Poljakova then took the tie-breaker 10-4 to capture the match to go 8-3 at the No. 2 position. She has won her last four-straight matches. Jamie Pawid, who is 10-3 at the No. 3 slot, defeated Kristina Voytsekhovich 6-0, 6-2. Pawid too has won her last four matches in a row. Martina Kostalova (11-7) held off Romina Nedakovic, 6-3, 6-4;  Xenia Suworowa (11-7) defeated Monica Abella 6-3, 6-1 and Kelsey Daguio beat Julie Tukuafu 6-2. 6-0.
 
Hawai`i will conclude its 11-match homestand with its final home match of the season this Sunday, April 8 against San Jose State at 9:30 am. It will be Senior Day for UH's two seniors Barbara Pinterova and Aglae Van den Bergh.
