RENO, Nev.—The No. 58 University of Hawai'i women's tennis team (12-6, 3-1 WAC) closed out the regular season with a sweep over Nevada, 7-0. It is the third straight sweep over a Western Athletic Conference opponent as the Rainbow Wahine concluded one of its best seasons in school history at the Caughlin Club on Sunday morning in Reno, Nev.
 
The day started with some tightly contested battles in doubles between the 'Bows and the Wolf Pack (6-11, 0-4 WAC). The first match went to UH's No. 3 duo of Aglae Van den Bergh and Martina Kostalova who handled Gabriela Eufrasio and Rymma Maslova, 8-2. But Nevada's Michelle Okhremchuk and Emma Verberne evened the score at 1-to-1 and snapped UH's No. 1 pair Barbara Pinterova and Jamie Pawid's four match win streak, 8-4. Then in the most exciting match of the day, Hawai'i's No. 2 team of Katarina Poljakova and Xenia Suworowa captured the doubles point with a 9-8 (7-5) tiebreak win over Nevada's Sophie Stevens and Juliette Legendre.  
 
The 'Bows then rolled through the singles matches—all in straight set victories. Pawid finished first at No. 3 with a 6-0, 6-2 win over Legendre. No. 3 Kostalova followed with a 6-3, 6-1 win over Eufrasio and No. 5 Suworowa clinched the win with a 6-2, 6-2 win over Maslova. No. 6 Kelsey Daguio then defeated Iva Lepcevska, 6-2, 7-6 (8-6) and No. 1 Pinterova and No. 2 Poljakova completed the sweep with hard fought wins. Pinterova held off Verberne, 7-5, 6-4 and Poljakova won the first game in a tie breaker before closing out the match, 7-6 (7-3), 6-3.

The Rainbow Wahine made a statement as they closed out the 2012 regular season with three-straight sweeps over Utah State, San Jose State and Nevada. Their only conference loss was a 4-3 loss at Fresno State earlier this season.
 
Hawai'i now travels to Las Cruces, N.M. to compete in the WAC Championships from April 26-29.
