Men's Tennis Clipped By Idaho, 4-3

LOGAN, Utah – The University of Hawai`i men's tennis team dropped to 5-11 and 2-2 in Western Athletic Conference play, losing to Idaho, 4-3, on Friday in Logan, Utah. 
 
The Vandals won all three doubles matches to claim the doubles point. The closest doubles contest came at the one where Jose Bendeck and Cristobal Ramos-Salazar topped Jonathan Brooklyn and Dmytro Kovalyov, 8-5. The pairs of Jared Spiker and Carter Lam, and Chas Okamoto and Charlie Rice, fell at two and three doubles, respectively.
 
In singles action, Kovalyov beat Ramos-Salazar, 6-2, 6-4, in the No. 3 court. Nils Schuhmann defeated Bendeck in a close two-set match, 6-4, 7-6, at the four, with Danilo Casanova winning in the No. 6 court over Alan Shin, 6-3, 6-4.  The No. 1 flight featured the most competitive and pivotal singles match of the day. Brooklyn held a one-set lead but could not hold on, falling in three sets to Marius Cirstea, 5-7, 6-3, 6-4.
 
UH will remain in Utah to take on host Utah State on Saturday, Apr. 14, at 10:00 a.m. MT. The match will be the regular season finale for the Warriors before they gear up for the WAC Tournament beginning Apr. 27 In Las Cruces, N.M.
